This is a 1982 Danny Garrett 1st State Print for Stevie Ray Vaughan's Birthday Celebration at Antone's Nightclub "The Home of the Blues" in Austin Texas. I purchased this awhile back from a die hard blues collector, who was around the Blues Scene in Austin Texas as a photographer. He
allegedly
received this poster from the owner of Antone's, after doing a photo shoot there one night. This was all sometime after Stevie's death. The owner, knowing the photographer was a big Stevie fan, gave the print as a gift. I purchased several very cool, "one of a kind" type blues items from him, and this was one of them.
1st State =
all the borders are not aligned on every corner. The girth and thickness of the black line is gauged differently in every corner. The left side of the poster, has a red bleeding discoloration under the print. On the back side of the print, it shows a light stain in that area. There are several small markings or scrapes to the print, mostly around Stevie's face (please see all pictures). There's a small dot matrix above the "V" in Vaughan, some kind of color test splotch. There are some small wrinkles in each corner, some have more than others (please see pictures). There are small pieces of tape adhered to the back of the print on several edges (please see pictures). The yellowing of the stock paper seems correct for the age.
**Very faintly on the back of print, top right = there seems to be Danny's signature in pencil. It appears this is an edition of 500** This is very tough to see and faded, I'm guessing as to what the pencil writing says. It appears to say "1/500" or just "1,500". Then there is a large "D" in cursive, with the rest of the signature or words completely faded out**
