100% Wool Civil War Confederate Cavalry Kepi Cap -

This auction is for a gray and yellow wool kepi cap. This cap is made of quality wool, leather with brass buttons and buckle. The bill is made of quality leather and has a cotton lining. The yellow wool band signifies the wearer was part of the cavalry. Officially known as a forage cap, the troops referred to these as bummers caps. This was because the cap was thought to be shapeless. It eventually became the most common cap worn by soldiers in the United States army and its volunteers, especially during the civil war. Inside of the headband measures approximately 21-1/2".
