Description

From my airship collection I offer this rarely offered zinc WW1 medal listed by Kaiser as his # 408.1. It is 34.3mm with a desolate scene of a naked man and a woman; a war zeppelin above. The woman "AMAZEMENT" holding an olive branch in one of her outstretched arms gazing above. Looks to be admiring this new tool of war that may end the war in favor of peace as the zeppelin at that time was about invincible. The man "DESPAIR" is crouched in fear of this new delivery system of destruction. The German roughly translated is; "amazement and despair" and "the end crowns the work" For a cast medal about as made grade and a scarce world war one German zeppelin medal. The larger version of this medal sold in the Dr Kallir auction for more than 0. See the scans.
