Description
Unlike most Morning Sun releases, this title presents a history of the AA from its inception in 1869 to the end of independence in 1976 when Conrail took over. This roughly 300 mile line between Toledo and it's Lake Michigan docks at Elberta, MI was taken over by the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton in 1905, the Wabash in 1925, and the Pennsy in 1963. The AA acquired the Manistique & Lake Superior around 1909. The colorful history of this Michigan line includes significant railroad ferry service across Lake Michigan. Author Robert Warrick has compiled an interesting history with both B&W and color images, including rail ferry service.
