    Description

    Antique Japanese porcelain teacup, Seto-Sometsuke ware, fine semi eggshell porcelain, hand painted in underglaze cobalt blue in Seto Japan, enhanced with gold overglaze paint, it has a cute little bird which I think is a finch, designed and signed by artist / porcelain maker, Kato Shunko (Harumitsu), made in his kilns in Seto Japan, Kato Shunko provided porcelain to the Morimura Brother's trading company in New York in the late 19th / early 20thC Meiji era, this was the parent company of Noritake, and this kind of porcelain is sometimes referred to as Pre-Noritake porcelain, thin and well potted with swirling ribs, no cracks or chips, some missing gold paint, the approximate size is 3.25 inches wide including the handle, x 2 inches tall, #7247
