    Antique Japanese Satsuma Figural Scene Tea Set with 24 pieces
    .
    Tea set includes teapot with vented lid, sugar bowl with lid, smaller pot with vented lid, 6 cups, 6 saucers and 6 plates.
    Made in Japan for Japanese consumption and not as an export.
    Each piece is signed on the bottom with hand lettered Japanese characters and mon in gold over a black square outlined in gold. Japanese tea maker is Hakuzan.
    The date range is the Meiji Period (c 1868 – 1912) or Taisho period (c 1912 – 1926).
    Dating from after the Edo period per research and interpretation of the online “Satsuma: The Joy of Beauty Marks” Marks and Makers reference.
    Each piece is meticulously and professionally hand painted,
    Egg shell/crackle glaze with classic Satsuma cloisonné -design and
    is outlined in gold.
    Adorning the set are scenes are of Japanese women figures, a House (minka) and a landscape painted with enamel and gold. A painted landscape scene of water and mountains is on the backside. Lids design is called Mille Fleur and is all hand painted in gold and enamel flowers. The boarders of the set have classic Satsuma black and gold bands.
    There are no chips or cracks or repairs. There is barely noticeable ware.
    The crackle glaze is darker is some areas due to age. Manufacture flaws are noted inside the teapot and in a couple other place so please look at the pictures.
