This book was part of a lifetime collection from the Thain family library. Over the last 60 years the Thain family amassed one of the most comprehensive collections of railroad-related books. To say that the Thain and Uhrich families were passionate about railroad history would be an understatement. Rob Thain moved to Colorado in the mid 1960's to go to school at CU when he met Joane Uhrich and they got married. In the 1970's they purchased the Rock Island RR station from Simla, CO, and moved it east of Strasburg, CO as the family home. Family businesses included the Uhrich Locomotive Works of Strasburg; the manufacture of live steam park and amusement trains, and full scale railroad restoration and parts; which is still in operation!  On the Thain side was Rail Technical Services in Connecticut owned by Bruce Thain. Bruce also conducted trolley restoration from the 1960's to 2017.
