    Description

This Historical Reenacting item is from a smoke-free home and smoke-free environment.  Very well taken care of and from a personal collection of historical re-enacting uniforms and costumes.  This is clearing out of some left over costume and re-enacting items from a recent TV Movie film shoot.
This PAIR of insignia is BRAND NEW - never used or sewn onto a coat so the edges are crisp and not falling apart.
Allot of reproductions and thick and hard to work with to sew on. These are not!  Easily pliable and sew on jackets nicely!
Very, very Nice round, embroidered pair of Civil War Union Army INFANTRY Officer SUBDUED Rank Insignia (Sky-Blue Background).  New and never used or worn - everything is clean and as you can see, these are not your run-of-the-mill re-enacting insignia.  Black background, lots of detail work and extra effort put into them - extra layer of braiding on the outside edges with scrolls and stellar embroidery.  Great private purchase officer item and they look great when worn.  they stand out in a good way.
Originally designed to be worn by officers on Overcoats (especially when wearing an enlisted overcoat).
General Orders Number 286 November 22, 1864 made changes in how Union officers wore their rank. G.O. 286 reads:
"Offices serving in the field are permitted to dispense with shoulder straps and the prescribed insignia of rand on the horse equipments. The marks of rand prescribed to be worn on the shoulder-straps will be worn on the shoulder in place of the strap. Officers are also permitted to wear overcoats of the same color and shape as those of the enlisted men of their command. No ornaments well be required on the overcoat, hat or forage caps; not will sashes or epaulets be required.
BY ORDER OF THE SECRETARY OF WAR"
A great set for living history, films and re-enacting, and a steal at this price and great looking.   Compare elsewhere around ebay for more than + for the same looking item.

Buyer pays shipping and I do combine shipping on multiple wins.  Please check out my other listings of historical costumes, items and DVDs.  Happy bidding and wear in good health.  I'm happy for bids outside of the USA, but there would be a higher shipping coat which I will invoice for.
