    Description

This Historical Reenacting item is from a smoke-free home and smoke-free environment.  Very well taken care of and from a personal collection of historical re-enacting uniforms and costumes.
    An outstanding reproduction of the
M1855 Civil War U.S. issue Artillery Enlisted Man’s Shell Jacket –
Typical U.S. Federal Issue enlisted, cavalry shell jacket, constructed of dark blue wool - jacket is trimmed in Red (indicative of light Artillery use) piping.
NEW and never worn, clean and sharp.  No doubt, probably the best reproduction of this style shell jacket you'll find on eBay!  Exclusive pattern and construction by us, so you won't be able to find this same Jacket anywhere else online.
12 Artillery ‘A’ in shield Union eagle buttons of cuff size down the front of the jacket, including on each of the functional cuffs, as well as eagle ‘A’ buttons are sewn to right and left side of high collar; collar is piped in common style of two rows, per button, of Red trim.
Interior is lined in a cotton/wool jean fabric, and complete white muslin sleeve linings.
Military shell jackets were short jackets that extended down to hip level and were commonly issued in the mid and late 19th century. This type of jacket was first made regulation for the US army in 1833. Cavalry uniforms were navy blue with Red piping, and Cavalry uniforms were identical but with Yellow piping; they had brass rather than silver buttons.
This M1855 style Artillery shell jacket remained in use until after the Civil War.
An excellent jacket and these are truly made to fit as sized.
Marked and measured as a true 44” chest.
