HP Hewlett Packard Jornada 720 Handheld PC
For sale- an HP Hewlett Packard Jornada 720 Handheld PC with the stylus and a charging base.
It wouldn’t come on but it’s only looking for 12 volts DC which is about as common of an AC adaptor as you’re going to get.
Only trouble was the standard generic 12VDC adaptor the business end is too large to fit into the charging port on the HP, either piece.
I finally found a charger that would fit into the thing, but even though it was a cigarette lighter adaptor the rated output wasn’t 12 volts.
So I ended up splicing the connector end onto a 12 volt adaptor and it would appear to be a functional if less than aesthetically pleasing solution, satisfactory for testing purposes but not recommended going forward.
I will include my homemade charger only on request and with the stipulation that I take no responsibility for it in actual use.
If you ignore my advice and it burns your house down well I hope your homeowners insurance is all paid up.
With the Frankenstein charger the PDA comes right on and boots to some sort of Windows setup screen.
I will let you pursue it from there.
So it looks like it should be functional if you know what you are doing.
I was expecting the battery to be completely dead but it does seem to be taking a charge.
Whether it’s a usable charge or not I have no idea.
Untested other than as described and pictured, sold as is, and NO warranty is offered.
