    Description

HP T730 4GB-RAM 16GB-SSD 5x1GbE WIFI PSU Stand pfSense firewall router
What I have for sale here is a HP T730 thin client computer that is optimized as a home or small business network appliance firewall / router, running pfSense 2.5.1.
    Hardware specifications:
    HP T730 Plus thin client
    AMD SoC RX-427BB 4-core 2.7Ghz (supports AES-NI)
    4GB DDR3 PC3L-12800S (expandable up to 16GB=8GBx2)
16GB M.2 SSD (currently has pfSense 2.5.1 installed)
4-port 1Gbps PCI-E ethernet card (Intel i340-T4, usually HP branded, but some times IBM)
    1-port 1Gbps onboard Realtek ethernet
    4x DisplayPorts
Genuine original HP external A/C power adapter (I will never use cheap knock-off power adapters!)
INCLUDES ORIGINAL STAND as pictured. The stand allows the unit to stand vertically in a stable way, but also creates an air gap to allow better airflow from the bottom. The stand can also be attached to allow for a horizontal configuration, and also allows for better air flow from the side panel (with HP logo).
This machine includes a TOTAL of 5x 1Gbps ethernet ports! 1x in an onboard Realtek chipset, while the other 4x are from the intel i340-T4 chipset. This is a very low power energy efficient network card.
Overall, this is an energy efficient machine. With the hardware specified above, its idle power consumption is just 17.6W!!! See photo of reading on my Kill-A-Watt.
This machine is very, very clean! Here is my refurbishing process:
First, I open it up and take out any components I can remove and blow out all the dust with a 70PSI airgun. I clean out the heatsinks, the fan, and the entire motherboard. I also blow the dust off any components I will re-install.
Second, any and all stickers on the exterior are removed (painstakingly). Then, the entire exterior is wiped down with Goo Gone to remove all sticker residue. These machines came from corporate environments where they usually stick asset number labels that are very hard to remove. If there are any markings, I tried to remove them with rubbing alcohol; i often find these machines marked with sharpie pens.
Third, I then wipe down the entire exterior with an all natural citrus orange degreaser/cleaner to remove the Goo Gone residue and for a final cleaning wipe down.
Fourth, I assemble the machine and update the BIOS to the latest available. Currently, that is L43 v01.15, dated 05/27/2019.
Fifth, I install pfSense 2.5.1 onto the 16GB M.2 SSD. For convenience, I’ve pre-assigned the interfaces as: WAN=re0, LAN=igb0, OPT1=igb1, OPT2=igb2, OPT3=igb3, but of course you are free to re-assign them as you see fit.
The photos are representative of the machines I’m selling, but may not be the exact one you receive. They are used machines, so there are minor scuff marks and the usual wear and tear of a computer that’s been used in a corporate environment. That said, as you can see in the photos, they have been restored to a very clean condition and are ready for use!
Please feel free to ask any questions.
Why buy from the Art of Server?
I can provide technical support if you have problems
I'm aware of counterfeit products on the market, and I make every effort to ensure that what I sell are not counterfeit.
I ship fast, usually same or next business day!
I have a YouTube channel with many helpful videos. Look for "Art of Server" on YouTube. (sorry, I can't link per eBay policy)
I fully test the HBAs I sell. See my testing process on YouTube.
I clean the server components I sell. You will not receive something covered in dust, or have unwanted stickers/labels, etc.
I ship electronic parts in proper anti-static bags (not the pink stuff) with bubble wrap or foam protection where needed.
I am a server enthusiast and IT professional that has worked with many brands of servers and have also built custom servers, not just someone selling computer parts. I love what I do! :-)
I've used ZFS for many years. I'm familiar with ZFS on Linux, FreeNAS, and many of the technologies commonly used by other enthusiasts.
I love cats. How can you deny my cute, cuddly charm?
Who is the Art of Server?
I'm a cat lover and a server enthusiast. I've operated my own rack of servers at home for almost 20 years. I've helped many friends and strangers with their servers. So, one day, I thought why not offer pre-flashed IT mode / HBA SAS controllers on eBay to help others with their server build? Since then, I've also added other "interesting" items to my eBay store that I think other server/computer enthusiasts would like. Oh, and I love cats. :-)
