    Description

    For the discriminating collector, is this
    classic vintage Mitchell
    308UL,SECOND VERSION, FIRST RELEASE spinning reel that is in
    highly collectible condition. Based on the serial# 118226,
    this reel was made in France in 1959. The Patent# is 2.726.052
    and was issued on December 5, 1955. As you can see, "FRONCE"
    is molded into the side of the housing. Also this version
    has started using the the hex nut found on the shaft.
    This reel was
    made prior to "FRANCE" being stamped
    on the foot but "GARCIA"
    has begun being printed on the side of
    the frame
    in front of Mitchell.
    Mechanically, the reel works perfectly. The bail is extremely strong
    and snappy, the anti-reverse and clicker work perfectly when
    properly engaged. Drag also works correctly.
    Cosmetically, the reel is beautiful and has brilliant chrome. The paint for
    its age is in excellent condition. The spring loaded handle is nice and
    straight with nice chrome. I did notice a few scuff marks on the bottom
    and some light scuff marks on the rotor and foot.
