". It was written and copyrighted in 1997 by Don Strack and produced in association with the Golden Spike Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society of Ogden, Utah. This copy is a "First Edition, First Printing - April 1997". The Introduction states, "Ogden, Utah, has been known for many years as the 'Crossroads of the West'... From the day the first rails entered Ogden in 1869, railroads have played an important and inseparable part in the city's economy and it sense of who it was. Before the improved highway system came during the late 1940s and early 1950s, railroads and Ogden rode the economic roller coaster together." The book is well illustrated with photographs or maps on most pages. Also included is a five panel map attached to the inside back cover showing the Southern Pacific Company lines in Ogden dated 1969. The pictures above show the
