Description
"Rock Island Diesel Locomotives 1930-1980" is Louis Marre's pictorial survey of all the diesels of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. He begins with the initial effort in 1930 to employ internal combustion locomotives with an Alco/GE/I-R switcher and continues throughout the lifetime of the RI until 1980 with diesels from almost every manufacturer in both passenger and freight usage. There are a great many rare b/w photos of early locomotives and complete rosters for each model as they are discussed along with detailed captions. The book begins and ends with eight page sections of color photos plus the inner and outer covers. This 146-page, quarto size softcover book was published in 1982 by Railfax (Extra 2200 South) as their first printing. This copy is like-new with no damage - no jammed corners, no markings, no dog-eared pages, no cover creases. The photos are of this very book. This book will be shipped in a box to prevent damage.
