Reproduction Union Enlisted Frock Coat with First Sergeant Chevrons

This is a Reproduction Model 1861 Union frock coat like the ones issued to enlisted men during the Civil War. It was the regulation dress coat for all branches of the US Army for enlisted men. The blue wool material is in very good condition and has no holes, tears or stains. The light blue piping of the infantry has been sewn onto the collar and by an inverted V on the cuffs. The chevrons of a Frist Sergeant have been sewn onto each sleeve. The coat is single breasted and has a nine button front of General Service buttons. The cuffs are functional, and use two General Service buttons to close them. All button holes have been hand stitched to prevent fraying. The back has two additional General Service buttons at the split shirt area. There are not any pockets in the shirts, only one inner pocket in the inner left breast area. The coat is fully lined in natural Cotton Muslin. A name and unit have been hand written in black permanent marker along the right edge of the opening. At the bottom of the left inner lining is the stamp of the Regimental Quartermaster, the folks that produced this quality frock coat. The skirt is unhemmed, as per the regulations of 1861. This is a very nice condition frock that is a larger size. It doesn't have a tag in it, but I tried it on and it's just a little snug on me. I wear a size 50, so I figure this one is a 46 or 48.
