DESCRIPTION:
The beautiful scalloped & fluted cake plate was produced in a striking pink & green color palette with gold on black.  The handles and inner circle are the high white of the porcelain.  The floral sprays look so bold & realistic with their deep colors and green leaves.
The scalloped and fluted rim is beautifully trimmed in gold with gold on the handles and inner circle.  Provincial Flowers Series overlaps the Black Chintz Series.
CONDITION:
While this plate is classified as used, the condition is very good.  We see one short knife scratch on the white which must be found in bright light looking at just the right angle.  There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, other scratches or hairlines.  There are no other utensil marks.  There is no gold wear.
DIMENSIONS:
The deep cake plate handle to handle measures 12 1/4" and has a diameter of 11 3/8" with a height of 1 3/8".
HISTORY/MARKS:
Thomas C. Wild joined his father Thomas Wild in purchasing Albert Work in 1895.  Upon his father’s death in 1898, he became sole proprietor adding St. Mary’s Works in Longton in 1905.  As Wild’s business prospered, he acquired other factories and pottery business.  By the early 1920’s he owned or controlled 15 potteries.  Thomas’ sons, Thomas E. and Frederick C., were admitted to the partnership in 1917 and the father retired in 1932.  The business was incorporated as Thomas C. Wild & Sons, Ltd.  Thomas C. Wild & Sons (Royal Albert) took over Paragon China in 1960, then merged with the Lawley Group to become Allied English Potteries in 1964, subsequently Paragon and Royal Albert joined the Royal Doulton Group in 1972.  The mark on this cake plate is identified as used in the 1975-2001 time period by the Royal Albert website (royalalbertpatterns).  Alberta's flower is the Wild Rose.  It is a flower that is able to grow on mountains and in meadows with the bush producing berries called rose hips.  Rose hips can be picked in the late summer and are an excellent source of vitamin C.  The wild rose has been the official flower of Alberta since 1930.
