    Battalion Infantry on May 4, 1861. Detailed with the magazine of the battery in early 1862 but transferred to the 41

    Virginia Infantry Regiment as Sgt. Major on May 9, 1862. Discharged on June 9, 1862 at Danville, VA.
    In 1866, Turner joined the faculty of Hollins College as the Professor of Ancient and Modern Languages and was made a member of the Board of Trustees. His father-in-law, Dr. Charles L. Cocke was the founder of
    the College. Sadly, Turner passed on May 5, 1878, at the age of 39.
    This signature was written on June 14, 1859 while Turner was attending the University of Virginia. Very rare signature signifying Phi Kappa Sigma University
    social fraternity.
