White, Jr., and was published and copyrighted in 1978 by John Hopkins University Press of Baltimore, Maryland.  This copy is a combination of Volume 1 & 2 and has no volume label.  Evidently, all two volume sets are paperback and have distinct volume labels on the front.   The flyleaf states, "In a book lavishly illustrated with nearly 800 photographs, engravings, and line drawings... provides the first comprehensive and authoritative
history of the passenger car... he treats all major types of
cars, from the most functional to the most opulent, describing not only coaches but diners, parlor, sleepers and baggage cars as well... plans diagrams, illustrative material add a wealth of technical description."  The pictures above show the
actual
front and back of the dust covers, the Contents page and .... other pages.  The pages are whiter than the pictures show.  The book has a hard cover with a dust jacket and is a big, heavy book measuring 11 by 12 1/2 by 2 inches, is 699 pages long and weighs 9.2 pounds.  It was originally listed on Ebay for + shipping, a lot of book for this price.
