This is such a darling item, I bought it for .99 at a textile shop in 2004, and only had it in my enclosed thimble display case since.
It looks exactly like it did when I purchased it, no nicks, no flaws.
It, of course, could not be used as a real thimble, but it was really cute displayed with all my thimbles.
I'm going to assume it is made of resin.  It has a shiny gold label inside saying:
ENESCO CORPORATION,
ALL RIGHTS RESERVED WORLDWIDE,
MADE IN CHINA.
