Two Vintage Books on Household Cats
These two vintage books are as follows: "The Life, History and Magic of The Cat" which was published in 1967 by Gosset & Dunlap, Inc. in New York. This book measures almost 9 and three quarters inches wide by 10 and a half inches high by 1 and an eighth inches thick; there are over 235 pages. The book contains numerous photographs and illustrations of cats including several full color pages suitable for framing. As you can see from the photo, the dust jacket is intact although it has several tears in the paper (the worst one shown in the photo); there are also some stains on the dust jacket. The book has some stains inside but is fairly clean and can be considered to be in good condition. I could find no ink marks, rips in the pages or missing pages. This book really is a classic for the cat lover with many endearing photos (lots of kittens) and illustrations and is suitable for the person who loves household cats of all types. The second vintage book is "Cats We Love" which was published in 1973 in Barcelona, Spain. This book measures 7 and three quarters inches wide by 9 and one fourth inches high by .75 inch thick; there are 144 pages. The book is primarily a book of photographs with some text included; there are several full color pages of cat pictures suitable for framing. The dust jacket is intact with slight bending of edges but no rips or tears; on the inside of the dust cover there is quite a bit of foxing (small circular reddish stains). The foxing is also evident on the edge of the cover of the book itself. The inside of the book is fairly clean with slight age darkening around the edges on some pages. I could find no missing pages nor any with ink marks or rips. There is an inscription in the front hand written in ink: "From one cat lover to another! Happy Birthday 1974 Love, Mom." The book can be considered to be in very good condition for its age; it has great photos of catsdoing cat-like things. Both books have been stored in a nonsmoking home but both have an "old book" odor.
