Vintage Soviet Very Rare USSR Military blood pressure meter sphygmomanometer Wood caseThe device has obviously not been used, the originally packed spare parts remain in the box,
the rubber pears and tubes are in excellent condition.
Made in USSR - Leningrad factory "Krasnogvardeets" ~1948 > 1953

A stethoscope is required for auscultation. Manual meters are best used by trained practitioners, and,
while it is possible to obtain a basic reading through palpation alone, this yields only the systolic pressure.
Mercury sphygmomanometers are considered the gold standard. They indicate pressure with a column of mercury, which
does not require recalibration.Because of their accuracy, they are often used in clinical trials of drugs and in
clinical evaluations of high-risk patients, including pregnant women. A frequently used wall mounted mercury
sphygmomanometer is also known as a Baumanometer®.
Aneroid sphygmomanometers (mechanical types with a dial) are in common use; they may require calibration checks,
unlike mercury manometers. Aneroid sphygmomanometers are considered safer than mercury sphygmomanometers,
although inexpensive ones are less accurate.A major cause of departure from calibration is mechanical jarring.
Aneroids mounted on walls or stands are not susceptible to this particular problem.

The oldest and largest plant of medical equipment in the USSR, the main enterprise of the Krasnogvardeyets production association;
the "Case of medicinal instruments", was founded in 1721 by the decree of Peter I, in 1796 it was transformed into the Instrumental
Surgical Plant, which in 1896, after the merger of instrumental-surgical, pharmaceutical and dressing manufactures, was called
the Military-Medical Procurement Plant. Workers of the plant took an active part in the revolutions of 1905-07 and 1917, in
the storming of the Winter Palace. Workers of the plant were the initiators of the organization of the detachments of
the Proletarian Red Cross. In 1922 the "Red Guard" was named. During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45 he carried out
the orders of the front. After the war, it was reconstructed and specialized in the production of complex medical devices and devices:
mechanical cross-linkers of vessels and organs, endoscopic instruments, multichannel electrocardiographs, devices for biochemical research, etc.
The volume of gross production increased in 1972 compared with 1940 by 26.5 times. The plant's products are exported to dozens of countries,
marked with 10 gold medals at international exhibitions. He was awarded the Order of Lenin (1946) and the Order of the October Revolution (1971).
